Explosive Wall Art

I just came across some wall art by Alexandre Farto (aka Vhils) while scrolling through the items on the hackaday site. Truth be told… this fella’s work is remarkable.

Apparently Alexandre extracts elaborate sketches/carvings from mortared brick walls by exposing them to the brute force of explosives. Planting the explosive charges at military precision, takes a mere explosion before the beauty of his work unveils itself. The preparations and precision his work demands would obviously require a significant amount of man-hours, but the result is absolutely stunning.

I’ve spend quite a significant amount of time rummaging through the material on his website. I dropped a few links below for the art connoisseurs among us.

Besides his impressive explosive wall art he proves to be equally proficient when given a pencil or brush.
